China's top legislator meets president of Latin American Parliament

Li, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), said China is the world's largest developing country and Latin America is a key region where developing countries are concentrated.

Li said the essence of China-Latin America cooperation is South-South cooperation, which neither targets nor excludes third parties.

"The Latin American Parliament is the most important and representative inter-parliamentary organization in the Latin American and Caribbean region, and plays an active role in promoting China-Latin America cooperation," Li said.

He added that the NPC is willing to further enhance friendly exchanges and cooperation with the Latin American Parliament to facilitate the high-quality construction of the Belt and Road between China and Latin America with legal guarantees, to better enrich people-to-people cooperation, and to push forward the development of the China-Latin America comprehensive partnership of cooperation.

Pizarro said the Latin American Parliament attaches great importance to cooperation with the NPC, and will adhere to the one-China principle to promote cooperation between the two sides.
