An American living in Hong Kong has submitted letters to the websites of U.S. Senator Hawley, Senator Cruz and news show "60 minutes", criticizing their biased views on Hong Kong protest movement. A netizen named "Sand" posted on Sigaporean social media platform SGTALK on Thursday to reveal the letters.

The letter said that Hawley has other motives for supporting the Hong Kong riots: "Hoping to curtail the continued emergence of China on the world stage, and the fear of Chinese hegemony in the region. By only perpetuating that outcome". It said what such people are doing is making a singular view of Hong Kong events from the lense of those who wish to destroy the city, and present the world a facade of half-truths. The letter said Hong Kong needed to change, but "shouldn't destroy a society and attempt to build a new one on its ashes".

The writer says he has never seen a peaceful, law abiding free and open society descends into such chaos, over such a short period of time. In the letter to U.S. Senator Cruz, he says his claim on seeing no evidence of violence by the protesters proves him an unmitigated liar. In fact, the city has become a place "Where mob justice underpinned by mob violence is the new law in the streets, where those you are supporting are demonstrating a complete lack of humanity to fellow human beings - and propagandising everything in their wake."

In the letter to the renowned news show "60 minutes", the writer conveyed his dismay on its single-sided view of the Hong Kong protest movement. He pointed out the show hadn't done any research on whether they are speaking for the majority of Hong Kong people. In fact, as wrote in the letter, the majority of the Hong Kong People are those who are "now living under a cloud of fear - fearful of speaking any contrary opinion to those who are ironically seeking a democratic platform".
