This year's Asian Film Awards have been unveiled in Hong Kong, and director Feng Xiaogang's "I Am Not Madam Bovary" has walked away a big winner. The dark comedy took home the best picture, best actress for Fan Bingbing and best cinematography awards.

The film was released in China last November. It follows protagonist Li Xuelian, as she puts on a legal fight for a decade after a fake divorce goes wrong. The film is presented in a round frame in its entirety, with pictures showing through a circle against a black background.

With a premiere at last year's Toronto International Film Festival, the movie has also gone on to win the best picture and best actress awards at last year's San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain.

Also at the Asian Film Awards, the best actor honor went to Asano Tadanobu for his performance in "Harmonium." Moon So-ri was named the best supporting actress for her work in "The Handmaiden," and Lam Suet from film "Trivisa" took home the best supporting actor award. Na Hong-jin was awarded the best director title for "The Wailing."

Two Hong Kong stars were also honored with special awards for their contribution to the Asian film industry. Singer and actress Sammi Cheng received the Excellence in Asian Cinema award, while filmmaker Hark Tsui was given a Lifetime Achievement award.
