Online writer Zhang Wei, known by his pen name Tang Jia San Shao, has taken the crown again on the latest income list of Chinese online writers.

Earning 122 million yuan, or about 18 million US dollars in royalties, the writer tops the list for the fourth time in five years.

Zhang started creating 'Divinity Legends of Douluo Continent' in 2015, which is a spin-off of his Douluo stories. He said the series will be adapted into four films by Hollywood.

Born in 1981, Zhang once worked for a small IT company. After being fired, he started writing his first online novel 'Son of Light'. Zhang then became a contract writer with qidian.com, China's leading website for original literature.

He was listed on the 2015 Forbes list of Chinese celebrities.

However, not every online writer is as lucky as him.

Most online writers reportedly have to work 10 hours a day to guarantee stable output.
