There is no better way to kick off the Tony Awards than with a song.

Kevin Spacey opened the 71st annual Tony Awards with an original song that playfully pokes fun at the difficult search for this year's host — and a nod at those rumors about his sexuality.

The song begins with Spacey trapped in a Groundhog Day cycle of waking up over and over again as the quest for a host continues.

Stephen Colbert and former Tony host Whoopi Goldberg both made surprise appearances on stage to cheer Spacey on.

The number ended with a tap-dancing routine complete with top hats and canes.

"Dear Evan Hansen" was the big winner of the night, winning 6 Tony Awards including the best new musical.

The star of the show actor Ben Platt, who you may recognize from the films Pitch Perfect took Best Actor in a Musical with an adorable acceptance speech thanking his parents.

The best musical revival prize went to "Hello, Dolly!" starring Bette Midler, who also won the best actress award.

Accepting the trophy, Midler rattled off an impressive list of thank-you's before the orchestra started playing, urging her to wrap up.

During her second round thank yous, the Broadway legend remembered the Hawaii locals who, when she was growing up in Honolulu, helped lift her out of poverty and introduce her to theater.

And last but now least, Kevin Spacey couldn't host the Tony Awards without doing a House of Cards spoof.

During the final award of the night, the actor made an appearance on stage as his famous character, Frank Underwood, along with Robin Wright, who plays Claire Underwood, to handed the card for best musical.

The 71st annual Tony Awards was hosted in the Radio City Music Hall in New York.
