Hong Kong singer/actor William Chan Wai-ting has decided to take on a new challenge, portraying legendary Mongolian hero Genghis Khan.

The upcoming 3D film "Genghis Khan" centers on the hero during his younger years.

Speaking at an event in Shanghai on Saturday, Chan said the most difficult part was attempting to look like a professional horse rider.

"Genghis Khan" stars Chan along with veteran actor Hu Jun and young actress Lin Yun.

Renowned French filmmaker Jean-Jacques Annaud is the film's production supervisor. Annaud also supervised the film "Wolf Totem."

"Genghis Khan" is due to hit theatres in China on December 22, 2017.
