Chinese director Wang Bing's documentary "Mrs. Fang" has scooped the "Golden Leopard" prize at the Locarno film festival in Switzerland.

The documentary details the end-of-life story of Fang Xiuying, a farmer who had been struggling with dimentia through the tail-end of her years.

Wang Bing, considered a leader in the Chinese documentary film movement, has previously served on the Locarno jury.

He's described Locarno as the best platform to screen documentaries, noting the audience is particularly attentive.

The Locarno Film Festival was launched in 1946 in Switzerland as part of an effort to revive culture in post-war Europe.
