A Mandarin version of the award-winning Broadway show "The Sound of Music" is being staged at the Poly Theater in Beijing, after a successful first tour of the country last year.

The musical has been staged more than 100 times since its debut in July of last year and has attracted over 100,000 spectators.

Yang Jiamin, CEO of the production company, said that for Chinese audiences, the story of "The Sound of Music" is classic and the story is very well-known and loved here.

The upcoming tour will see actors ranging from 5 years old to 14 years old play the seven children in the family.

After Beijing, the musical will be staged in Shenzhen in December and Shanghai next January.
