Wolf Warrior 2 has spent almost a month in Chinese cinemas and has taken $768.5m, the film made a record 1.6bn yuan ($238m; £181m) in just one week. Staring and directed by Wu Jing, the film has been a real hit. This is exactly one of the reasons Hollywood want more involvement with the Chinese film market.

By contrast, the film's small run in the UK has been met with a mixed reception, with the depiction of Africa as a failed state coming in for some criticism.

Wolf Warrior 2 tells the story of a Chinese special forces operative’s mission to rescue Chinese businessmen in a war-torn region of Africa occupied by insurgents and mercenaries.

Wolf Warrior 2 has now beaten Avatar's record for the film that made the most money from one single release in one territory.
