The cartoon Luo Bao Bei, which debuted in China in 2008, will soon release a new series to the public.

The show is named after its main character, a seven-year-old girl, and also features her family and friends. Luo Bao Bei is intended for children between four and seven years old.

Rather than using magic and superpowers which have been popular in children's stories in recent years, Luo Bao Bei is an ordinary girl with a huge imagination that anyone can identify with.

Ma Lin, the producer of the cartoon series, explained why they created such an ordinary girl as the main figure of the show.

"The motive is very simple—we wanted to create an original domestic animation that pre-school children and their families across the world can enjoy together," said Ma.

"The girl Luo Bao Bei shows many positive characters that children can learn from," said Zhu Jiwen, the principal of Beijing Fengtai No.1 Kindergarten,“you can see Luo Bao Bei is sunny, full of love, and brave when facing difficulties. This is our aim in cultivating children. We teach children to be self-confident, responsible, innovative and to tell right from wrong. The character Luo Bao Bei is a good example for children.”

Parents are also a significant part in cultivating children. Su Zhong, chairperson of DYTM, a leading Chinese media group and creator of Luo Bao Bei, said the animated series also offers a good means of communication between children and parents.

"Through this show, parents will have a clear idea of the needs of their children and their nature and personality. This is important", added Su, "so in the series, we have many episodes to describe how Luo Bao Bei gets along with her parents and grandparents. Actually, a little change in the parent-child relations can make children happy."

Xue Qi, a mother of two pre-school children, loves the series, saying the character is good and acceptable for both children and parents. They can watch together and get inspired by the stories.

She said:“it helps children form good habits. For example, if you don't like a toy anymore, how do you deal with it? Luo Bao Bei will tell you to gift it to other children or recycle it rather than throwing it away. For parents, we can also learn to control our temper when children make mistakes.”

The new 52-episode series will be screened on Beijing's Kaku TV channel from November 20 and available online at 10 well-known video platforms, including iQiyi, Tencent, Youku, and Sohu, from the following day.

DYTM has also signed a contract with Toronto-based Nine Story Media Group on international distribution to bring love and happiness to children and families globally.
