The 8th Beijing International Film Festival has opened in China's capital.

During the week-long event, 328 films will be screened.

Nearly 100 different events will be held in Beijing, with the goal this year to try to lure younger people into the theaters for screenings of domestic Chinese-language films.

They have been selected from more than 650 submissions from 71 countries and regions.

Among the 15 in contention for the top prize are the domestic productions "Hold Your Hands" and "Operation Red Sea."
