Disney casts Chinese-New Zealand actor as Mulan's love interest
Disney has confirmed that Chinese-New Zealand actor Yoson An will play the key male role in its new live-action movie "Mulan."
An has been cast as Chen Honghui, a recruit who becomes Mulan's ally and eventual love interest.

The movie, directed by Niki Caro, is a remake of Disney's 1998 animated hit.
It tells the story of Hua Mulan, who disguises herself as a man in order to take the place of her elderly father in the military.

Disney has already cast Chinese actress Liu Yifei as Mulan, while the new film also includes kungfu stars Jet Li and Donnie Yen.

"Mulan", set to begin shooting in August in both China and New Zealand, is scheduled for release in March 2020.
