Zhang Yimou receives Glory to the Filmmaker award in Venice

Renowned Chinese film director Zhang Yimou has been awarded the Glory to the Filmmaker Award at the Venice Film Festival.

This honor comes ahead of the screening of his latest film 'Shadow'at the Festival. 

The award is given to an individual who has left a particularly original mark on contemporary cinema. 

Shadow is one of two Chinese films featured at the festival this year. It screened outside competition while 'Jinpa' by Tibetan director Pema Tseden competed in the Orizzonti (Horizons) program.
