A movie called The Photographer will open in cinemas nationwide today. (Dec 12th)

The film, via the perspective of a photographer's family, reflects the huge changes that have taken place in the Chinese society following the implementation of 'Reform and Opening Up' initiative.

Actor Liu Mu portrays the second-generation Cai Anguo in his photographer's family.

"I got interested in the photography when I was a student of the Beijing Film Academy. During years of work upon graduation, my enthusiasm about the evolution of the camera never cooled down. I was born after the 70s and my role in the film is also at the same age. The Chinese generation who were born after the 70s has a common characteristic: they have ambitions but they are also conservative. The film shows some examples of social changes all of which I have experienced myself."

The film was shot in Shenzhen, a city at the forefront of China's reform drive, and was made as a tribute to the 40th anniversary of China's 'Reform and Opening Up' policy.
