Jennifer Lopez opens 'Second Act' in her hometown of New York

Jennifer Lopez's latest movie "Second Act" premiered Wednesday night (12 DEC. 2018) in her hometown, New York City.

"I love it. I love when we do things in New York. It always makes it much more special. You know being a Bronx girl, having shot this movie in the Bronx, in Queens, in Manhattan, in Brooklyn. You know me Leah my best friend Elaine wrote this script and who, you know, came up with this idea and we produced this movie together. It's just a really, really beautiful night."

The romcom stars Lopez as Maya, a store worker who gets a second chance at her career. With the help of social media and an embellished resume, Maya lands her herself a high-powered executive position.

Also attending the premiere was Vanessa Hudgens, who stars Maya's co-worker Zoe.

"Coming from where I started, I wanted to expand the horizons for myself, I didn't want to do the same thing over and over again and got to kind of break the mold I feel for myself by doing independent films and working with people like Harmony Korine during 'Spring Breakers.' So yeah but I'm sure there will be many more to come."

"Second Act" is released in the U.S. on December 21.
