TV drama 'Memories of Peking' to air on Friday

A new TV drama 'Memories of Peking' will air on Beijing Satellite TV and Shanghai Oriental Television on Friday. It centers on a family who makes tasty pickles and has run this business for decades.

The family, surnamed Yan, lives in a Hutong, a traditional residential area for Beijing dwellers. Their habits in old-time entertainment, including watching of acrobatics show in the Tianqiao area and visiting the local teahouses, are all shown in the new TV drama.

In addition to past life activities and memories, the TV drama also puts the pickle-making process into the spotlight, starting from materials' selection to sauce-making and the processing of the dried vegetables.

Reports say it is the first time for pickle production, an intangible cultural heritage of China, being vividly portrayed in a TV drama series.
