"The Rookies," the first time Jovovich has headlined a Chinese film, is due to hit theatres in China on July 12, 2019.

Jovovich plays an elite spy who teams up with an unlikely group, including an extreme sports enthusiast, an amature scientist, a bumbling police officer and an unemployed doctor, to take down a terrorist organization.

"The Rookies" is directed by Alan Yuen, the man behind films including "Monster Hunt" and "New Police Story."

Yuen has been working on the new film since he wrapped production on "Monster Hunt" in 2015.
