In a film landscape overrun by superheroes, Milo Ventimiglia said he was excited to do a movie that let the humans be the hero of their own story.

"It felt like one of those stories that I think we need more of these days," Ventimiglia said. "You know, in the world of superheroes or dark times or anything like that, to have a hopeful, human-spirited movie told through the eyes of a dog who so desperately wants to imprint his soul with the makings of a good human for his next life, it felt like the right kind of movie".

Ventimiglia is at the center of "The Art of Racing in the Rain," a film about a dog named Enzo and his family navigating the rough patches of life together. Enzo, voiced by Kevin Costner, narrates the story, giving both perceptive and comedic commentary on his humans' lives.

While the story has its sad moments, Ventimiglia and his co-star, Amanda Seyfried, agreed that the film's hopeful message undoubtedly shines through.

"It's really, it's a hard lesson to learn," Seyfried said. "But anybody that's been through anything heartbreaking knows that there is another side and that's like, I think also the point of this movie, that there's another side".
