Peng Shuai and her Indian playing partner, Sania Mirza, seeded 4th at Flushing Meadows, have a shot at making the semi-finals if they can get past the 5th seeded duo of Timea Babos of Hungary and Andrea Hlavakova of the Czech Republic.

Tianjin native Zhang Shuai and her partner from Taipei, Chan Hao-ching, will battle for the other semi-final slot in the lower bracket against Chan's older sister, Chan Yung-jan, and her veteran playing partner Martina Hingis. The elder Chan and Hingis are ranked 2nd. Zhang Shuai and Chan Hao-ching are unseeded.

In the top bracket, Xu Yifan and her Canadian partner Gabriela Dabrowski are set to take on the 3rd seeded Czech duo of Lucie Safarova and Barbara Strycova for a shot at the semi-finals. Xu and Dabrowski are seeded 9th.
