Sloane Stephens wins US Open women's event

American Sloane Stephens has become only the 2nd player in US Open history to win the Women's singles title as an unseeded player in the tournament.

Joining Kim Clisters who won as an unseeded player in 2009, Stephens hammered 15th seeded Madison Keys this morning 6-3, 6-love to take this year's women's singles title.

In other action, it was Taiwan's Chan Hao-ching and her American playing partner going down in the finals of the Mixed Double's event to the duo of Jamie Murray and Martina Hingis.

Chan's younger sister, Chan Yung-jan, along with Martina Hingis, have a shot at winning the women's doubles event as they take on Lucie Hradecka and Katerina Sinialakova.

Tomorrow morning's men's final will see world number-1 Rafael Nadal taking on South African Kevin Anderson.
