TV images showed that as Wang stepped on the field, he took out a necklace hidden in his sock and put it on his neck.

Wearing jewelry or other personal items on the pitch is banned by the Chinese Football Association (CFA).

Wang Shenchao has since issued an online apology, promising to "strictly abide by the rules of the field" in the future.

He's also been hit with a 20,000 yuan fine by his club.
