Uruguay will kick off the first quarter-final game of the Russia World Cup against France, which gets underway on July 6, 2018 at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium.

Ahead of the game, CRI's Ge Anna speaks with H.E. Fernando Lugris, Ambassador to China from Uruguay about the long history of Uruguay football and his prediction of the game.

Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani's availability for the game is still in doubt, as the PSG forward is receiving treatment on his calf injury.

His absence would be big blow to the South American team's hopes.

Meantime FIFA has selected a referee from Argentina for this clash.

The choice was not well received by the Uruguayan side as they claim the rivalry with their close South American neighbors would influence the official's calls.
