Taiwan pitcher Chen Wei-Yin is the highest-paid Chinese sportsman.

Chen joined the Miami Marlins in Major League Baseball in 2016 on a 6-year contract worth 96 million US dollars.

It beats Yao Ming's 75 million dollar, 5-year contract from 2005 and makes Chen the highest paid Chinese sportsman.

33-year-old Chen made his MLB debut in 2012 with the Baltimore Orioles.

Although baseball is not the most influential sport on the Chinese mainland, it is one of the most popular in Taiwan.
