Former France striker Thierry Henry has been officially presented as AS Monaco's head coach.
The Ligue 1 club gave the 41-year-old his first managerial post with a 3-year deal to replace the sacked Leonardo Jardim.
AS Monaco is the very club where Henry began his professional football career in 1994, which makes the new manager feel like returning home.
"It's a club which has a place in my heart, which holds a special place. Since I left, I look at Monaco's results all the time and that will never change. I am a child of this training center in some ways. Now the kid has grown up, I've crossed over the line so I hope I'll be able to straighten things out with the help of everyone here, the staff you can see, the director, the chef, whoever, I'm not going to name everyone. But we need to have a shared ambition to move things forward. But yes it goes without saying that I've come back to where it all began and it's amazing. Really," says Henry at his official presentation in Monaco.
The new head coach will be tasked with turning around Monaco's dismal start to the season.
The Ligue 1 club is 18th on the 20-team table, and has won only one game across all competitions this season.
Henry played for Monaco for five seasons from 1994 to 1999, making 105 appearances and scoring 20 goals.
He also helped the club win a league title in 1997.
