Chinese world champion Ning Zetao is back from injury and claimed victory in the men's 100 meter freestyle at the Queensland Championships in Brisbane.

The 25-year-old produced a time of 48.43 seconds, the only mark under 49 seconds in the competition.

It's Ning's first appearance in the pool after a short-lived race at the Chinese National Championships in November.

After not making the 50 meter butterfly final at that event, the 2015 100 meter freestyle world champion pulled out of the remainder of the competition with broken fingers.

He also opted out of this year's Asian Games.
