China-ASEAN rally wraps up in Malaysia after 16-day competition

The 2019 China-ASEAN International Touring Assembly came to an end on Wednesday after 16 days of competition.

Participants drove on a 350-kilometer route from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru, Malaysia in the final stage of the race.

Rally organizers unveiled the results of the competition at the closing ceremony attended by Chinese Motorsports Administration officials and their Malaysian counterparts as well as the race sponsors.

Group A topped the three-team list in the overall standings with a total of 76 points, while Indonesian driver Siska won the best woman driver award.

Chinese Motorsports Administration deputy director Yang Guangyu noted at the occasion that the China-ASEAN rally has consistently growing and become more diverse and dynamic thanks to the support from Malaysia and other ASEAN countries.

He said with the guidance of the Belt and Road initiative, China and Malaysia will have more opportunities in sports cooperation in the future.

Despite the conclusion of the contest, rally drivers will continue their journey next to Singapore, which will be focused on cultural exchanges and sports communication.

Singapore is the final stop of the 5000-kilometer China-ASEAN touring assembly, which is in its 13th edition this year.
