Belt and Road regatta goes to Thailand

The inaugural Belt and Road Regatta Thailand has wrapped up in Phuket.

The race, also named the Phuket King's Cup, was postponed in the morning due to unexpected strong winds in the harbor and resumed in the afternoon.

Chinese sailing team Beihai took an early lead but lost the advantage in the end to finish third, trailing the winners by over 10 seconds.

Beihai still tops the overall standings.

More than 120 boats took part in the Thailand stage, including teenage group competitions.

The Belt and Road Regatta next goes to Beihai, China this coming weekend, followed with races in Malaysia and Singapore.

The Beihai race will also feature a family regatta that promotes public participation in the sport.
