Inaugural Belt and Road International Regatta concludes in Malaysia

The inaugural Belt and Road International Regatta has wrapped up following the final stage in Malaysia.

Chinese sailing team Beihai ended up second in the most anticipated IRC2 class race.

Beihai was overtaken by local team Royal Langkawi in the final minutes after leading the race for most of the time.

In the overall classification, the Chinese team also finished in second, after Team Phoenix.

Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, along with the Malaysian royal family, attended the awards ceremony following the race.

The month long Belt and Road Regatta also had contests in Beihai, China, Phuket, Thailand and Singapore.
