DPRK fires missile in eastern direction: S. Korean military

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) launched an "unidentified ballistic missile" Sunday afternoon, local media quoted South Korea's military as reporting.

"North Korea (DPRK) fired an unidentified ballistic missile in the eastern direction at around 4:59 p.m. (0759 GMT)" from a site near the city of Pukchang in South Pyeongan Province, the Yonhap News Agency quoted the South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) as saying in a statement.

According to the JCS officials, the projectile flew some 500 kilometers, and the South Korean and the U.S. militaries are analyzing its details including the type and its exact trajectory.
