A boy who couldn't afford a toy Panda wrote an amazing note on its box, and ended-up having the best day of his life.

Leon Ashworth, from Liverpool in the UK, was shopping with his mum at an Asda supermarket.

He spotted a toy Panda bear, and instantly fell in love with it.

However, he didn't have enough pocket money, and his Mum Debbie, an intensive care nurse, wanted to wait until payday to buy Pandy for Leon.

So, unknown to Debbie, Leon wrote the following message on Pandy's box:

“My mum didn’t have enough money to buy me Pandy so she’s buying me Pandy on 15th June so please don’t buy him as it will make me cry. Thank you so much from Hopeful Future Owner.”

The next part of the story is told by staff at Asda:

''Our colleagues at the store were so moved when section leader David Bateman found the message they clubbed together to buy Pandy – and put out an appeal on Facebook to track down his “future owner”.

Lots of people shared David’s appeal, including the Liverpool Echo – and Leon’s mum Debbie Ashworth spotted their post when she was flicking through her Facebook feed.''

She took Leon back into the store, and Pandy was handed over to Leon.

Debbie said: “As he was walking out he said to me ‘This is the best day of my life’. It meant the world to him – thank you so much Asda!”

It turns out that the moving story could not have happened at a better time for Leon and his family. Sadly, Leon's younger brother Oliver died in January aged just four days old.

When TV producers at ITV heard of Leon's story, they invited him in for an interview, and surprised him with the revelation that they've arranged a trip to China for him to see real Pandas.
