An earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale jolted 89km West of Tarauaca, Brazil, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said on Saturday.

The epicenter, with a depth of 575.27 km, was initially determined to be at 8.1428 degrees south latitude and 71.5735 degrees west longitude.
