羊群行走在离天最近的冰湖上 The sheep migration over the highest lake

Herders(牧人) take their sheep(羊) on an ancient annual(年度) migration(迁移) across(穿过) the icy Puma Yumco Lake in Tibet Autonomous Region, China.

每年一次,西藏的牧人们会赶着羊群穿过结冰的普莫雍错湖。

A villager counts(数) the sheep before their journey over the frozen Puma Yumco Lake.

When smaller animals wander off or fall(摔倒), the herders take them in their arms and carry them.

The sheep migration starts(开始) before dawn(黎明) and moves(移动) in a line(队) one after another over the ice(冰).

Sheep are not the only ones that make this journey, villagers bring supplies(补给) to the herders on the islands as well.

Puma Yumco Lake is one of the world's highest lakes.

It takes more than 2 hours to complete(完成) the 3km journey across the frozen lake.

Herders will spend a month with the animals on the islands, where the grass(草) grows to waist height.

To help the sheep cross safely, villagers place cow dung along the ice to prevent(阻止) sheep from losing their grip.

Herders warm(取暖) themselves near(靠近) a stove(火炉) by the frozen Puma Yumco Lake.
