College to launch "Crayfish" major, and promises students they will be immune(免疫的) to unemployment after graduation if they complete(完成) the new program.

This dish(菜) is a very popular(流行的) one in China. So popular, in fact, that High school graduates in Hubei Province now have the opportunity to major in cooking(烹调) crayfish, marketing crayfish, or managing the crayfish industry.

From this year the courses(课程) are available at the Jianghan Art Vocational College in Qianjiang.

The new majors have been set up by the College(学院) and a local training enterprise(公司) specializing in providing(提供) the skills of cooking crayfish. 

Once admitted, students will learn basic theoretical(理论) knowledge(知识) at school in the slack season(淡季) of the industry, and then practice() in catering companies in summer, when the biggest amount(数量) of cultivated(养殖) crayfish will be harvested.

With the help of the government, graduates will be immune from unemployment. How?

They will sign(签订) an employment contract(合同) with the college, the local crayfish industry development bureau, and F & B companies when they are admitted to the college, and upon graduation, governmental and business institutions will help allocate job opportunities to the students.

Qianjiang, the city known as the "hometown of crayfish" in Hubei province (where this major is now offered) built a 100-ton statue in dedication to the crayfish that boosts the local economy there in 2015.

In Qianjiang, cooking and exporting the freshwater(淡水) crustacea is the leading industry in the city and a main(主要的) income(收入) source for local farmers.

In fact, according to customs data, crayfish from Qianjiang occupy(占据) over 60% of the European market, earning foreign exchange of more than 100 million US dollars on average every year.
