中国产大飞机C919今日首飞 Chinese-built passenger jet C919 makes its maiden flight

Here comes the maiden(首次的) flight(飞行) for China's first domestically produced(生产) large passenger plane!

The C919 took to the air for the first time from Shanghai Pudong International Airport(机场) on May 5. Let's take a closer look at C919 from inside(内部的) out. 

China's first domestically produced large passenger plane. The jetliner, built for medium-haul flights, has up to 174 seats(座位) and is powered by a twin(双) engine(引擎).

The aircraft is developed by the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC). Its main rivals will include(包括) Airbus 320 and Boeing 737.

In 2007, the State Council approved the plans(计划) to develop a Chinese-built large passenger jet. In November 2015, the first C919 jet rolled off the assembly line.

So far, 23 clients(客户) of COMAC have placed 570 orders(订单) for the C919, including domestic carriers such as Air China, China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Hainan Airlines and Sichuan Airlines.
