机器人做主刀医生 Robot surgeon

Up until this Monday, the robot doctor(医生) used in Anhui, China has successfully completed(完成) all 724 operations(手术), ranging from urology(泌尿科) to gynecology(妇科) and obstetrics(产科). The indefatigable(不知疲倦的) robot surgeon(外科医生) excels(擅长) in safety(安全), efficiency(效率), and precision(精确), doing these things better than human surgeons.

Equipped with cameras(摄像头) that can enter(进入) the patient's body, the robot can "see" far clearer(清楚) than human eyes. It produces high-definition 3D images for surgeons to examine(检查), which greatly enhances(加强) the precision of surgical treatment(治疗).

A surgical robot was pictured during its first cardiac(心脏) surgery for a 31-year-old patient with congenital(先天性) heart disease(病) at the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University in Hefei city, China.

However, the high(高) costs(费用) of robots and the exclusion(之外) of robotic surgery in medical insurances(保险) result in high surgical fees, which keep many patients away.

The nimble(敏捷的) mechanical arms make the robot especially suitable for minimally invasive(微创) surgery. It is capable of doing a major operation with only a few small(小) cuts(切口), while the incision(切口) could be 20 cm (8 inch) long in a traditional operation.

As with all automation(自动化), surgical robots will eventually eliminate(淘汰) the need for some personnel(人员). Most surgeries require nearly a dozen people in the room. Taking a glimpse into the future, surgery may require only one surgeon, an anesthesiologist(麻醉师) and one or two nurses(护士).
