特高压直流工程开工 Electric power line from Anhui to Xinjiang under construction

An electric power transmission line(线路) linking(连接) Anhui in eastern(东部的) China and the northwestern(西北的) region of Xinjiang is now(现在) under construction.

The line will extend across 6 provinces(省) and regions(地区), and is due(预期) to be completed by March of 2018. It's expected to create(创造) a new world record in terms of voltage levels(水平), transmission capacity(容量) and distance(距离). The wires are expected to be capable(能够) of transporting 12,000 megawatts of electricity, which is equivalent(相当于) to the output(输出) of 12 large power plants(电厂).
