稻田里的鸭“管家” Ducks are hard at work in paddy fields

You won't find "Rice plus Ducks" on the menu in Hai'an, Jiangsu Province. It's actually a scheme which sees ducks(鸭子) put to valuable work in the paddy(稻) fields(田地). They are being employed by local villagers to kill(杀死) insects(昆虫), carry out weeding(草), and to add manure(肥料) on 33 hectares of land providing organic(有机的) rice(大米). 

Around 270 ducks are hard(努力) at work(工作) in paddy fields producing 9,000 kg per hectare.
