莲藕收获的季节到了 Lotus root harvest season has set in

Farmers(农民) have been busy digging(挖) up the Lotus Roots(莲藕) in ponds(池塘) across Jiangxi Province since autumn(秋季) started(开始). A popular(受欢迎的) food(食物) in China, a lack of suitable machines to properly harvest(收获) the roots that reside in heavy mud under the water's surface means man power is still used to harvest them today.

Farmers work in the pond for more than eight hours a day. In General, one person can harvest around 100 kg of lotus root per day. For their hard work(辛勤劳动), the farmers make about US $8,000 per season(季节).
