高速“机器人交警”上岗啦 Robot to be used to spot traffic violations

A highway patrol robot for handling(处理) traffic violations(交通违法) is being tested(测试) around China.

The luggage-sized robot, controlled(控制) by mobile phones, operates(运行) on a highway barrier(护栏) at a speed(速度) of 5 km per hour.

A fully charged battery(电池) can power the robot for between five to eight hours.

It can capture(捕捉) images(图像) and videos(视频) of illegal parking(停车) or driving(行车) in the highway emergency lane(应急车道), then send the evidence(证据) back to the police.

In addition to handling highway traffic violations, the robot can assist(协助) traffic police with other routine work(日常工作).

Car accidents(车祸) always cause traffic congestion(拥堵), but they can't stop the robot from arriving at the site as soon as possible and sending back pictures to help its human counterparts handle the case.

It can also send a voice alert(警报) to vehicles in the event of highway congestion, car accidents, road maintenance(道路养护) and bad weather.
