美国队获汉语比赛团体冠军 U.S. team wins Chinese language contest

A team from the United States has won(赢) the "Chinese Bridge(汉语桥)" language proficiency competition(比赛) for secondary school students held in Kunming(昆明), capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province.

The final round(决赛) was held(举办) on Saturday evening, with the winning team from each continent(洲), Russia, Kyrgyzstan, the United States, Mozambique and Australia, taking part.

A number of participants(参赛者) from countries(国家) such as Canada and Austria also won individual awards(个人奖项).

The series of contests, which focuses on spoken Chinese, Chinese culture and art performances, attracted(吸引) 320 teachers(老师) and students(学生) from 96 countries and regions(地区).

During their stay in Kunming, the participants visited(参观) local families and communities to experience(体验) folk arts and traditions.

Since 2002, the headquarters of the Confucius Institute in Beijing has organized(组织) a series of Chinese Bridge language competitions.
