市民把宠物捐给动物园 Man's pet donated to zoo

A lesson(教训) about raising(养) pets(宠物) without properly preparing(准备), Mr. Zhao got the snake(蛇) as a baby, no longer than a chopstick(筷子), three years ago. Now, the snake is over 4 meters long.

While Mr. Zhao still wants to keep him as his pet, he admits(承认) that raising his beloved snake has become too much to handle. Finally, the snake was given to the Chongqing Zoo(重庆动物园).

Mr. Zhao adopted the baby snake when it was no longer than a chopstick. He mainly fed the snake mice(老鼠) and rats. 

"I did not expect in just three years it would grow so big," admits Mr. Zhao to Meiri Renwu WeChat account in Chongqing.

To Mr. Zhao's credit, he did try very hard to do well by his pet. Once Mr. Zhao saw the snake was growing too fast for his small cage(笼子), he cleared out an entire room(房间) in his home for the snake, and put special heaters in the room to make sure the snake was warm(暖和) enough.

Mr. Zhao says he is sad to see his pet go, but believes the zoo will be a good home for him. Also, he admits the snake is just too large and he says, "I'm almost sixty years old," indicating the snake's care is a little overwhelming for him.
