哈尔滨冰雪大世界开园啦 World's biggest ice wonderland opens to the public

With the opening of the 34th Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival, which will last(持续) to the end(末) of February, the northeastern city of Harbin is welcoming its "hottest" tourist season(旅游旺季) with ice(冰) and snow(雪). 

Covering(覆盖) an area(面积) of 800,000 square meters, the Ice and Snow World used a record(纪录) 180,000 cubic meters of ice and 150,000 cubic meters of snow this year. Almost all of the sculptures(雕塑) are made by hand. The best time to go is at night, though temperatures(气温) are around -20C then.

The festival brought in 40 million yuan (6.13 million US dollars) in revenue(收益) during the seven-day Lunar New Year holiday in 2016.
