A passenger brought one of China's high-speeds trains to a standstill(逼停) in Henan Province on Tuesday after her perfume(香水) set off the train's smoke alarm, reports zynews.cn.

The train from Zhengzhou(郑州) to Anyang(安阳) came to an emergency(紧急的) stop(停止) after a smoke alarm in one of the toilets(卫生间) went off. A train technician rushed to the carriage but found no smoke(烟) and no fire(火). Instead, they found that a female passenger had sprayed(喷) so much perfume in the bathroom that it triggered(引发) the train's sensitive smoke detector.

The incident(事件) brought the train to a stop for three minutes. "For a high speed train, three minutes are very important," said a staff member with the Zhengzhou railway administration. He said that there is only a five-minute interval(间隔) between trains during rush hours(高峰期), and even a short unplanned stop might lead to cascading(接连的) delays(延误).

There have reportedly been a large number of incidents in China where high-speed trains have come to an emergency stop because of passengers spraying perfume, sunscreen spray(防晒喷雾), or floral water(花露水) that sets off a smoke alarm.
