货车失控冲出匝道！两人被“网兜”救下 Truck falls off runaway ramp, driver saved by huge net

A breathtaking scene appeared as a truck(货车) hung off the edge of a cliff in southwest China's Yunnan Province on July 26.

According to the police(警察), the truck was out of control(失控). The driver(司机) used the deceleration ramp to stop the car, and narrowly saved his and the passenger's life(生命) thanks to the net(网).

The incident happened on a 27-kilometer-(17 miles) long downhill highway, which was considered a “death road” by veteran drivers, claiming over 100 lives in 1,000 trafficaccidents(交通事故) from 2003 to 2013, reported China News.

The high accident rate had pushed the local traffic police to make change(改变). In 2015, a net was added by the end of the deceleration ramp, hoping to catch the cabs ordrivers thrown out due to inertia(惯性). The net has helped save(挽救) at least five lives since its debut.

The net is checked(检查) and replaced(替换) regularly. According to the police, the net, which played a crucial role in the accident, has been renewed before the accident justhalf month ago. The driver and a passenger had minor injuries(轻伤) and have been hospitalized.
