马云明年交出阿里巴巴接力棒 Jack Ma to retire as Alibaba Chairman next year

Alibaba Executive Chairman Jack Ma(马云) announced on Monday that he will retire(退休) from his position(职位) on September 10, 2019, appointing(任命) current CEO Daniel Zhang(张勇) as his successor(继任者).

An official statement released(宣布) by Alibaba said that Ma will remain in his role as executive chairman for the next 12 months to ensure(确保) a smooth transition.

Jack Ma was an English teacher before creating the e-commerce giant Alibaba in 1999. He has turned the company into one of the world's leading(领先的) e-commerce companies. When the Alibaba Group listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 2014, Jack Ma became one of the richest men in China. According to Forbes, his net worth this year is around 40 billion U.S. dollars.

Ma said in the open letter that he wants to return to education(教育), which gives him excitement and blessings.
