深圳改革开放40年晚会上演灯光秀 Shenzhen celebrates China's 40th anniversary of reform and opening up with light show

A celebration(庆祝活动) for the 40th anniversary(周年) of China's reform(改革) and opening up(开放) was held in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen on Thursday night.  

Around 1300 people from all walks of life joined in the celebration. The celebration presented the energy(活力) and transformation(转变) of Shenzhen as the city was in the country's first batch(首批) of special economic zones(经济特区), together with Zhuhai, Shantou, Xiamen, and Hainan, established(设立) in 1980.
