广深港高铁香港段冷知识 Five unexpected fun facts about HK Express Rail Link

Although you may know the whole line of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link has been put into official operation(运行), as the Hong Kong section of the line entered into service on Sunday morning, it's still too naive if you think you have already known every aspects(各个方面) on it.

1. High-speed train(高铁列车) needs a ship(船) trip too!

2. Almost all of the passengers would like to enjoy the views outside the windows when travelling aboard the train. However, the vibrant express may disappoint you because there is no ground track along the Hong Kong section in order to avoid(避免) causing(造成) impacts(影响) to buildings and residents downtown, the MTR decided that all the tracks(轨道) should be built in tunnels(隧道).

3. High-speed train needs to jog(慢跑) first. The highest speed of the Vibrant Express reaches only 200kmh in the Hong Kong section.

4. Power(电力) supply & Wi-Fi(无线网)? No problem.

5. It will offer direct rail services between Hong Kong and 44 destinations(目的地) on the mainland(大陆), involving cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Shijiazhuang, Zhengzhou, Wuhan, Changsha, Hangzhou, Nanchang, Fuzhou, Xiamen, Shantou, Guiyang, Guilin and Kunming.
