清华大学居亚洲高校首位 Times Higher Education ranks Tsinghua top university in Asia

Tsinghua University(清华大学) becomes the highest-ranking university(大学) in Asia(亚洲), according to the fresh Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2019 published on Wednesday.

THE world university ranking list(名单), including(包括) more than 1,250 universities this year, is led by the University of Oxford for the second year in a row. The second best is the University of Cambridge and Stanford University in the United States ranks the third.

Tsinghua University, rising(上升) 8 places(位) to 22nd, has overtaken(超过) the National University of Singapore (NUS), ranking 23rd, to become the best(最好的) university in Asia.

THE said Chinese universities' rise is largely driven by improvements in citation impact(影响). 

U.S. universities continue to take the most(最多的) places in the rankings. 

THE World University Rankings is a well-trusted global university performance table to judge(评价) research-intensive universities across all of their core missions: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. It uses 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators(指数) to provide comprehensive and balanced comparisons(对比).
