中国各地举行2018年祭孔大典 Confucius' 2,569th birthday celebrated across China

Ceremonies were held(举行) in a number of Chinese cities on Friday to celebrate(庆祝) the 2,569th anniversary of the birth(诞辰) of ancient Chinese sage(圣人) and educator(教育家) Confucius(孔子).

Confucius (551-479 BC), an educator and philosopher(哲学家), founded a school of thought called Confucianism that deeply influenced(影响) later generations(后代). He was also the first Chinese to set up private schools(私立学校) and enroll students from all walks of life.
