艺术家作沙雕呼吁帮助印尼海啸受害者 Artist creates sand sculpture to help Indonesia's tsunami victims

Artist Sudarshan Pattnaik crafted a sand sculpture(沙雕) at a beach(海滩) along the Bay of Bengal in the eastern Indian city of Puri to get people to help(帮助) Indonesia's tsunami victims(受害者).

So far 1,763 people were killed in Palu city after a powerful magnitude-7.5 earthquake(地震) and tsunami(海啸) hit Indonesia's central Sulawesi Island on September 28.

The quakes and tsunami have forced(迫使) a total(总计) of 62,359 Indonesians to flee(逃离) their homes(家) and take shelter(避难) in makeshift tents(帐篷) and under tarpaulins(雨布) at 147 evacuation centers(疏散中心), said Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesman for the National Disaster Management Agency.
